There is still much to be learned about Elvis' appearance at New Boston High. Some timelines do not include a New Boston performance at all, and some have as many as three, while Peter Guralnick in Elvis Day by Day gives January 11 as "the most likely date for a show Elvis definitely played". The campus has been largely redeveloped but the old building above is adjacent to the old football field and is a likely candidate for the original gym, which some sources cite as the location of Elvis' performance.
However, it is also claimed that Elvis played at the football field. New Boston High now has a modern football field, and according to information obtained by Francesc Lopez, the original football field is now the practice field, shown here. If Elvis played the field and not the gym, the show would have happened here, or if sources claiming more than one show are correct, he could have played both. To further complicate matters, the New Boston newspaper archives were apparently stored in a barn that burned down, so any press confirmations of Elvis' New Boston performances are lost, unless someone is able to find existing copies tucked away somewhere. To my knowledge, none have yet surfaced.
